Manchester Christmas light switch-on and street party confirmed for city centre venue

As Christmas fast approaches a number of festive events have been revealed - from light trails to winter markets. And the latest will see Manchester lit up in grand style at one city centre venue.

This November, The Printworks will host its first-ever Christmas Lights Switch-On, showcasing brand-new screen content on Europe’s largest digital ceiling. Taking place on November 29, the event will also encompass a festive street party open to all.

The Manchester venue will come alive from 6 - 8pm with festive entertainment, spanning a thrilling drummer show, live DJ, percussion and sax sets, and high-energy stage dancers. The event will also feature special guest Jake Quickenden.

Kristian Brennan, Marketing Manager at Printworks, shared: “As a digital-first entertainment venue, we’re excited to start the festive season with something truly special for families.

“Alongside our Christmas Lights Switch-on, we’re thrilled to introduce our impressive digital advent tree, which will offer fantastic gifts to people leading up to Christmas - just stop by, enter your details on the iPad, and join the fun!”.

Those heading down will be able to immerse themselves in captivating digital entertainment, including a laser show synchronised with the ceiling screens, creating a 360-degree experience.

This will lead up to the grand Christmas switch-on by former ITV I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star and TV personality, Jake Quickenden, unveiling festive content on Printworks 1000 square metres of digital ceiling, as well as their unique Christmas tree.

The digital advent tree, standing tall at 16 feet, will be adorned with 25 numbered baubles illuminated by cool white LED lights and crowned with a glowing white star. The show-stopping tree features an interactive touch-screen window where guests can join daily prize draws throughout December.

Visitors will be in with a chance to win exclusive rewards at Printworks’ bars, restaurants, and leisure activities, including free bottomless brunches, family cinema tickets, and three-month gym memberships.

Additionally, guests can snag special discounts for the popular Skate Manchester ice rink at Cathedral Gardens as well as discounts at Hotel Indigo and the chance to win a luxurious stay for two people in 2025.

The Printworks Christmas Light Switch-On event and Festive Street Party will take place on Friday, 29 November. It will run from 6-8pm.
